Flavor

Sold and described as very sweet, with the classic bright cherry-tomato flavor. As with all flavor notes here, this is the recurring catalog description, not a measured claim.

Origin

An F1 hybrid cherry tomato long popular for its heavy clusters of small sweet fruit. The improved disease-resistant selection is sold as Supersweet 100.

What it does well

  • Enormous yields in long trailing trusses
  • Reliably sweet
  • The Supersweet 100 selection adds fusarium, verticillium and tobacco mosaic resistance

Where it frustrates

  • Fruit can crack
  • Vigorous vines need strong staking or caging

Growing it

  • Indeterminate vine. It keeps growing and setting fruit right up to frost, so plan on a tall stake or cage and regular pruning through the season.
  • Ripens early, under about 70 days, one of the safer picks where the summer is short.
  • Generally forgiving and beginner-friendly to grow.
  • Prone to cracking and splitting after wet spells.
  • One of our picks for the cold, short-season gardens of New England.

Why no hardiness zone?

Tomatoes are warm-season annuals, so variety choice comes down to days to maturity and your local frost dates.
